Obituary of Terry Lunan
All who knew Terry realized he had a booming personality, so it is somewhat strange he passed away in a very un-Terry like fashion, peacefully at home on February 28, 2025.
Terry was born to William and Beth Lunan on September 8, 1951 in Brandon, Manitoba. Terry was the oldest of 4 children, the late Jacqueline (Randy) Smith, Douglas (Joanne) Lunan and Catherine Lunan. He was able to see much of Canada before the age of 18 when he settled in Brandon and never left. It was then he met his late wife Joanne Pagan and had his two daughters, Tamara (Paul) Keesee of Jackson, Missouri and Stacey (Ryan) Hackett of Brandon, Manitoba. He raised his daughters with the strength of a warrior, the kindness of a gentle giant and the sarcasm of a ... He married Brenda Blackshaw in 1992 and they shared almost 33 years of love and laughter.
Terry often said he “served a life sentence” at Brandon Correction Centre as a correctional officer, programs instructor and educator (where he was able to utilize his Bachelor of Education). Terry could impress with his Judo skills, (had the black belt to show for it), his hunting skills (has buck antlers to show for it), his woodworking skills and models. Terry was a history buff who took a specific interest in World War II.
Cooking was another skill that Terry possessed. His secret to his pork-chops remains with him and his grandsons always requested Beer up the Butt chicken, which came with a serious amount of jokes.
Terry enjoyed happy hours with Brenda, and played a mean game of Yahtzee, where the dice were often on the receiving end of a significant swearing. He remains the champ with a score of 625.
If you knew Terry, you knew he was sarcastic, had a questionable sense of humour and over the top dance moves. He was always up to paying for “good entertainment”.
The love of his family was greater than anything else in his life. He was cherished by his wife, and adored by his daughters. His grandchildren Chael Keesee, Benson Keesee, Julien Keesee of Jackson, Missouri and Megan (Alex) Keesee-Burke of Oakland, California became the apple of his eye. It did not matter if he was known as Grandpa or Pappy as long as he took the advice of Grandma to not be a Grumpa.
Terry will be missed by all who knew him. He was one of a kind.
In keeping with Terry's wishes, there will not be a service at this time. There will be a casual get together to celebrate his life at a later date.
“Time is like a river. You cannot touch the same water twice, because the flow that has passed will never pass again. Enjoy every moment in life.”
