Dr. Eric DePass passed away peacefully with family by his side, in Brandon, Manitoba on March 04, 2025, at the age of 97 years. Eric is predeceased by his mother, Merdina (nee Smith), his father, Egbert, and his brothers, Karl, Leslie and Lloyd. Dr. Eric DePass – a retired Pathologist, became a doctor after many years of studies in the University of the West Indies and England. Eric practiced medicine in Jamaica and Canada for many years. He was well-respected by his medical peers and his many friends. Eric gave back so much to his community by his involvement in the Kiwanis clubs of Kingston and Brandon, a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, and as a Director of St. John Ambulance. Eric enjoyed many hobbies, including golf and Amateur Radio. Eric will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Kathleen (nee Forbes); children, Earle (Francine), Karlene (Daryl), and Ian (Amber); grandchildren, Philippe (Melody), Neil (Monica), Michelle (Ian), Sean (Megan), Erika (Sean), Kathryn (Jared), Brittany, Victoria, Courtney (George), Benjamin, Evan and Liam; great-grandchildren, Raymond, Hannah, Gabrielle, Eli, Charlotte, Lily, Clark and Harold; close nieces and nephews, Paschal (Angie), Maria (Francis), Lorna (Tony), Andrea, Wayne – (deceased) (Heather), Mark (Lita) and Sandra.
A time of visitation will take place at Brockie Donovan Funeral Home, 332-8th St., Brandon, MB, on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, from 1:00 - 3:00 PM and from 6:00 - 8:00 PM, with parish prayers at 7:00 p.m. The Celebrant will be Fr. John Okosun. A final viewing will be held at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, 327-4th Street, Brandon, Manitoba on Thursday, March 13, 2025, from 10:00 AM until the time of Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 AM (CDT). Interment will follow at the Brandon Cemetery.
Sincere thanks to the 1st floor team of the Hillcrest Place Personal Care Home and the Assiniboine Centre, 3rd floor unit of the Brandon Regional Health Centre, where Eric spent a lot of time.
