Obituary of Alberta Neufeld
Alberta Mary Neufeld (Pollock) passed away peacefully at home in Strathmore, Alberta, on March 30, 2025, at the age of 86 years.
Mom was born in Brandon, Manitoba on October 2, 1938. She was the second of six siblings, having five brothers, to Finlay and Mae Pollock. Growing up on the farm near Forrest, she became an athletic kid, and a lifelong horse aficionado.
Alberta set aside her many hobbies for a few years, to marry and to become a mother to three daughters. She had an accomplished career at MTS, as an operator and a shift manager for over 40 years, until her retirement in 1995.
In 1979, Alberta met and married the love of her life Edward Neufeld, and the two were happily married for 46 years. The two settled on an acreage northeast of Brandon, near Alberta’s childhood home, where she rekindled her love for riding and showing Arabian horses. Alberta and her beloved horse Skye won innumerable ribbons and championships, and she became renowned as a horsewoman and as a riding coach. Alberta and Ed were most proud of their volunteer work with the Brandon 4-H club, hosting many club events at their acreage throughout the 1980’s and 1990’s. In 2002, Alberta and Ed relocated to an acreage near Standard, Alberta, to enjoy their retirement near their children and grandchildren.
Alberta was predeceased by her daughter Dawn in 2024. She is survived by her husband Edward, her children Heather (Lyle Von Ludendorff), Denise (Carlo) Chiminello, Tracey (Jeff) Wingrove, and Terry (Wanda Dixon); as well as her grandchildren, Chad, Thomas and Marissa Chiminello, Brendan and Jay Wingrove.
A funeral service will be held at Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332 8 Street, Brandon, on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. A private family interment will follow at the Alexander Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Calgary SPCA or to a 4-H club of your choosing.
