Carl Golletz

Obituary of Carl Golletz

It is with great sadness that the family of Carl Golletz, shares the news of his peaceful passing on Tuesday, April 22, 2025. Carl was born on August 10, 1934, the second of four children, near Rossburn where his father and mother Harry and Tinnie Golletz were farming. He attended school in Ruthania, Wheatfield and Oakburn and studied Accounting in Winnipeg. Carl met and married Anne (Yarchuk) Golletz on October 25, 1955 and they moved to Brandon to be closer to the family. Carl and Anne raised four children Leonard,

(daughter in law, Barb Nieradka), Richard (Keay), Melody (Barry Foster) and Barry (Jean). Carl also leaves to be remembered four grandchildren; Mitchel (Chantelle and great grandchildren Aria and Myles), Nicole, Jennifer, and Jordyn (Darcy Geseron). Carl was predeceased by two brothers Louis (Mildred), Leonard (Rose) and sister Olga.

Carl began working in Brandon at Manco Dairies but quickly moved on to the management role of Western Concrete in 1957. He worked for there for 34 years before becoming the owner and with the help of his two sons Richard and Leonard, he developed successful enterprises in the Westman community. After selling the company to his sons, Carl tried his hand at the retail business with two stores of Buck or Two in Brandon. He always enjoyed the contact with people and his many friends at the malls.

Dad had a full life of raising his four children in Brandon, with coaching baseball, camping, golf, gardening and landscaping being some of their passions. The family moved to an acreage just south of Brandon where they would plant and nurture hundreds of bedding plants every year which were grown from scratch in their green house. With a huge garden as well, they participated in  the Best Rural Yard Competition, in which they won on a number of occasions. There was always a project to plan or build in the Golletz family!

Dad always inspired community building through his efforts of volunteerism. He served on many boards for decades including being President of the Brandon Construction Association 1973, Vice Chair of the Brandon Economic Development Association, the Manitoba Rural Rep for the Canadian Construction Association and many years with the Manitoba Ready Mixed Concrete Association. But his passion for volunteerism perhaps pinnacled with his support for the Rotary Club of Brandon which he was congratulated for over 50 years of community service. The fellowship of his Rotarian friends meant a great deal to him.

Dad remarried in 1998 to Vivian Ward-Golletz and together they had many great years of travelling to Mesa Arizona for the winters and the summers at Clear Lake with their friends and family. Also mourning his loss is Carl and Vivian’s family, Kuba (Sherra, with son Kade and daughter Ameya) Sheila Christansen and daughter Alexandra (Sabrina, with sons Hudson and Hayes). We all shared many years of joy and love.

Many thanks to all the care givers at the Assiniboine Centre.
