Obituary of Sharon Marilyn Church
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sharon Marilyn Church, who was called home on June 13, 2025 at the age of 67.
Sharon was born in Dauphin, Manitoba to Mike and Sylvia Bewski and raised on a farm near Ethelbert, MB, where her deep love of family began. Whether around the kitchen table, at church or the hall, many community events and holidays, everyone was there. She grew to embrace playing games, caroling and socializing with friends and neighbors in this time. Also instilled in her was the importance of helping others in need. These are things that Sharon carried forward for the rest of her life.
Sharon lived and worked in Winnipeg for a few years before marrying John. They chose to reside first in and around Ethelbert, where she forged her love for her growing family for a decade before deciding to head west in the early 1990s, landing in High River, AB. Throughout her life there were other moves, but no matter where Sharon lived, she made a house a home. For the past twenty years home was Shilo, where the coffee was always on and there was usually at least one string of Christmas lights around to add to the cozy feel inside. For many years she enjoyed growing a large garden, and always loved to have animals around to spoil if the kids, and eventually grandkids, weren’t around to benefit from her generosity.
Sharon is best remembered for the deep love she had for her family, enjoyment of Disney movies, and of course all things Christmas. She thoroughly enjoyed seeing her grandchildren grow and discover their passion for various sports, music, dance and learning. Spending time with Sharon in fairer weather was always a treat, as she preferred to have you join her on the deck with a coffee or lemonade so she could hear the meadowlarks and enjoy the sun and open air. Sharon always seemed to see the cup half full and kept a positive attitude, regardless of what she was faced with.
Left to mourn Sharon’s passing are her mother Sylvia Bewski; husband John; daughter Candace Church (Bruce Elliott), grandchildren Robyn, Tori and Owen Elliott; son Josh (Ginny) Church, grandchildren Jake, Ayla and Jessa; siblings Deb Roskam, Ken (Jennifer) Bewski, Jeff Bewski and Donna (Dennis) Bewski-White; as well as nieces, nephews, and other family and friends. Sharon is predeceased by her father Michael Bewski.
A service will be held for Sharon at the Wellwood Hall in Wellwood, MB on Thursday, June 26, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. Friends and family are encouraged to donate to the Westman Hospice at www.westmanhospice.ca.
