Obituary of Richard Demas
Richard Demas “Inapahpi” of Canupawakpa Dakota Nation, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 19, 2025, with his loving wife by his side at the age of 82.
Richard was born on March 25, 1943, on the Canupawakpa Dakota Nation.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Leona; his brothers Chicago and Mervin Demas; his children, Janet (Jason), Brad (Maxine), Avery, Tina, and Renita (Adolf), Serena (Eric), Percy (Maybelline) and Farren as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was predeceased in death by his parents Lucy and Peter Demas; his first Wife Bonnie Paul; his brothers Clifford, Mason, Rodger, and Leonard Demas, his sisters Eunice and Isabelle Demas, Rosalyn Eastman, his 2 sons Elliot Paul and a baby boy and his grandson Brent Paul.
A service will be held at Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332 8th Street, Brandon on Friday, October 24, 2025 from 7:00 -8:00 p.m. followed by a Funeral on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at 11:00 a.m., at Canupawakpa Community Hall.” Eyeska” Greg Chatkana will officiate with Deuce Thomson as singer. Pallbearers are as follows: Ashton Paul, Dylan Paul, Danny Shingoose Jr., Percy Sutherland, Brady Demas, and Brody Brown
All in attendance are considered honorary pallbearers
The family has requested that no children under the age of 10 be in attendance.
