William Conrad Reimer

Obituary of William Conrad Reimer

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of William Conrad Reimer.  Conrad passed away in the early hours of December 3, 2025 in the Melita Hospital at the age of 68.

Conrad was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on February 10, 1957, to Marion (Brown) Reimer and Jim Reimer.

Conrad is survived by his brothers Cliff Reimer (Karen), Bob Reimer (Pam), and Keith Reimer and sister Jori Croitor (Brian). Conrad will be missed by his many cousins, and friends.

Conrad was predeceased by his parents, his paternal grandparents Jacob and Margaret Reimer and maternal grandparents John and Nettie Brown, his aunt Joan Bertram and her husband Harold, his uncle George Brown (Faye), and cousin Leanne (Brown) Peel.

Conrad was born in Winnipeg and moved to Birtle in his early school years. Conrad attended public school in Birtle until 1976, when he returned to Winnipeg to attend Red River Community College. He received a diploma in electronics.

Conrad’s pursuit of a career led him to gain employment with Canada Packers until the company went on strike.  Then, Conrad gained employment with the Canadian Pacific Railroad.  Conrad remained with CPR until he retired. During his employment, Conrad lived in many different communities.  He made Melita his home in 1993.

Conrad was an avid sportsman.  He enjoyed playing hockey, hunting, and fishing. Once he became too old for playing organized sports, he continued his passion by being an avid viewer of baseball, football and hockey.  Conrad was also a huge crossword puzzle fan. Conrad read many books and magazines. The knowledge he gained from reading was helpful while watching Jeopardy.

Since retiring in 2015, Conrad’s health slowly declined, with an eventual diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease. With his body failing, Conrad’s most tragic loss was the loss of his voice.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the Deloraine and Melita hospitals for the endearing care they provided Conrad over the years and especially since this past October.  The visits of Conrad’s friends near and far were welcomed.

In memoriam, donations to the Cancer Care and the Parkinson’s Foundations are appreciated.

A celebration of Conrad’s life will be held in July 2026.
