Obituary of Lori Anderson
Lori Jean Anderson (née Caldwell)
February 11, 1956 – February 11, 2026
Lori Jean Anderson (née Caldwell) passed away peacefully on February 11, 2026, her 70th birthday, marking a life lived with strength, generosity, and a deep devotion to family.
Born February 11, 1956, in Hamiota, Manitoba, Lori was the youngest daughter of Marlene Ross and John Caldwell. After her father’s death in 1966, Lori and her sister Patti moved to Winnipeg with their mom, Marlene. In the late 70’s Lori moved to Calgary, where she became a CGA. She returned home to Manitoba living in Birtle before finally moving to Brandon where she resided until her death.
During the last 16 years of her career, as an Accountant, Lori worked for the Mazer Group, a place she truly loved and she took great pride in the job she did. She often spoke fondly of all her colleagues. She retired in 2023 after a long and dedicated career.
A true sports fan, Lori often attended the Brandon Wheat Kings games, she was an avid golfer, loved football, curling, and baseball. She was a diehard Toronto Blue Jays fan, with George Springer being her favourite player. Outside of sports, she found joy in playing cards, music, bingo, and puzzles. During tax season she would help anyone with filing their taxes and providing tax advice. In the summer months Lori would often spend time with friends lounging at the pool and she always enjoyed a good beer or Caesar during “Happy Hour”. She had a special love for all animals—particularly horses and dogs—but she had a soft spot for chocolate labs.
She was strong-willed, generous, independent and honest to a fault. Lori lived life on her own terms and never let her MS hold her back. She was caring, loyal, fiercely protective and quietly selfless, always showing up for those she loved. Family and friends were most precious to Lori, and she devoted herself wholeheartedly as the primary caregiver for her mother and stepfather until their passing.
Lori is predeceased by her father John in 1966, her mother Marlene in 2018, and her stepfather Rob in 2020. She will be lovingly remembered by her sister, Patti; nieces Marni (Luis) and Michelle (Chris); nephew Michael; great-nephew James, great-niece Olivia; step-brothers Tom, Steve and their families; and her many godchildren. Lori will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
A special thank you to the Ratushniak family for the love, support and care they have provided to Lori. Thanks also to the Doctors and Nurses at the Assiniboine Palliative Care Unit for their round-the-clock care.
Lori’s final days were filled with creating memories with her many visitors. The visits and phone calls were greatly appreciated. Thank you to all the visitors, guests and phone calls that made her final days memorable. In Lieu of flowers, her family requests a donation be made, in Lori’s name, to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
As per Lori’s wishes no service will be held.
I’m Free
Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free
I’m following the path God has laid you see.
I took his hand when I heard him call
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day
To laugh, to love, to work to play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way
I found that peace at the close of day.
If my parting has left a void
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss
Of yes, these things I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life’s been full, I savored much
Good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief
Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your hearts and peace to thee
God wanted me now; He set me free.
