Samuel "Sam" Lennon

Obituary of Samuel "Sam" Alister Lennon

Samuel “Sam” Alister Lennon

With deep sadness and heavy hearts, the family of Sam Lennon, husband, brother, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, announces his passing on March 27, 2026, in Brandon at the age of 91.  Sam will be remembered for his gentle, giving nature and great love for his family.

Sam was born on May 26, 1934, to Stewart and Dorothy Lennon in Virden, MB. He had three brothers, John, Glenn and Donald (Yvette).  On September 12, 1958, Sam married, and is survived by, the love of his life, Myrna, in Virden. They were blessed with two children, John and Joan (Brian).  There are many grandchildren, Chauncie (Chris), Scott (Anastazia), Brooke (Mike) and Anna (Zach).  Great-grandchildren, Christopher, Cayden, Kyler and Chloe, were an added gift to the family. Sisters-in-law Norma and Gaile held a special place his life.  There were also many friends and extended family who will miss his warm smile.  Sam was predeceased by his parents, brother John and brother Glenn.

Sam enjoyed a 40-year career as a high-pressure welder for the gas company in Manitoba.  He and Myrna were avid travellers and campers, having been Good Sam RV club members for 39 years, heading south to warmer climates for close to 30 years.  They also took up dancing, which introduced them to many more friends and adventures. Sam could always be counted on to lend a helping hand. It was a privilege to all who were fortunate enough to know and be loved by him.

A private funeral service was held at Brockie Donovan Chapel on April 1, 2026. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice in Sam’s honour.

We wish to express our heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff at Brandon General Hospital and the Assiniboine Centre for their care and compassionate support of Sam and his family.

Deeply missed but never forgotten.
