Obituary of Helen-Louise Pompana

Helen Louise-Rose Pompana of Sioux Valley Dakota Nation, Manitoba, passed away surrounded by the love of her family.

Helen was born on May 21, 1968, in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, and spent her early years growing up southeast of Portage in Curtis Ridge. In her early teens, she was adopted into the Tracy family, where she was baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and raised in Portage la Prairie.

In 1989, Helen met her life partner, Lee Pompana. The two were married in 1993 and built a life rooted in family, care, and dedication. Together, they raised a loving family that meant everything to her.

Helen attended Arthur Meighen High School and later completed her Certificate in Childcare from Red River College. She devoted much of her working life to caring for children as an educator and caregiver at Gigot Shortstop Daycare and through her own home daycare. Her nurturing spirit and kindness left a lasting impact on the many children and families she supported.

She was also a proud supporter of Sioux Valley Animal Rescue and had a deep love for animals. In her personal time, Helen enjoyed reading and had a passion for collecting stamps, antiques, and crystal pieces.

Helen will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Lee Pompana; her children Tyler, Nick, Roxie, Jared, and Jay Pompana; her mother Eleanor Doherty; and her siblings Al, Brian, Clarence, and Faye Doherty. She is also survived by her adopted father Keith Tracy and siblings Jenna-Leigh, Craig, Noah, Kenneth, Mathew, Tara-Dawn, and Ashli-Ann Tracy, along with many extended family members and friends.

She was predeceased by her brothers David and Gary Doherty; her grandparents Earl and Rose Doherty; her adopted mother Lynn Tracy; and her siblings Kristia-Lynn, Lisa, and Theodore (Teddy) Tracy.

A visitation will be held at Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332-8th Street, on Monday, April 6, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. until the time of Helen's chapel service at 2 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Sioux Valley Veteran's Hall, on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, departing from Brockie Donovan Chapel at 9:30 a.m. Interment to take place at the Sioux Valley Anglican Cemetery.
