Obituary of Craig Alan Lindbloom

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Craig Alan Lindbloom. He passed away at his residence at Hillcrest Personal Care Home on March 31, 2026 at the age of 64.

Craig was born May 5, 1961 in Souris, Manitoba. He was the third son of Oscar and Ethel (Shiels) Lindbloom. He began school in Souris but attended other schools in Manitoba and Ontario, where the family moved for employment reasons.

Craig worked in several different sectors. He first began working in the oil industry where a disabling exposure to sour gas had a lifelong impact. He did continue to work: with a paving company, in telemarketing and in the late 1980’s- early 90’s, he teamed up with his brother Brad at the Avalon Theatre and their video and sub shop in Souris. As his health began to fail, he spent more time with his favorite hobby of pencil sketching. He spent hours sketching family members, animals and celebrities. He was very talented.  Sadly, his ability to sketch diminished as his health worsened. His love of art supplies, Tim Horton’s coffee and duct tape were evident in his room at Hillcrest Personal Care. 

Craig married Beatrice Anne Atkinson on July 31,1998 but divorced 11 years later. Beatrice remarried and passed away in 2024.

Brad, Craig and Blair all lived at Winnipeg House in Brandon for several years where the three brothers worked to organize events for the residents. From group meals over the holidays or movie night, they enjoyed creating opportunities that built community at the apartment complex.

Craig dealt with many years of poor health due to his sour gas exposure and diabetes.  Through these life challenges, he remained remarkably upbeat. We take comfort in knowing his suffering is over and he has joined his parents and brothers in heaven.

Craig’s surviving family members include his brother, Blair, nieces Kirsten (Linda Kvall) and Erika (Chris) Pearson and their children Jayme and Dustin, as well as many Lindbloom and Shiels relatives.

Craig was predeceased by his parents Oscar and Ethel (Shiels), brother Randy (and his wife Alison), and brother Brad. 

Craig’s family would like to thank all the staff at Hillcrest Personal Care Home for providing wonderful care for Craig for the last several years when his health had become so precarious.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Napinka Cemetery Fund, Box 101, Napinka, MB R0M 1N0, Diabetes Canada or to a charity of choice.

A graveside service for Brad and his brother Craig will be held at the Napinka Cemetery on Thursday June 25^th, 2026 at 2:00 p.m.  A reception will follow at the Napinka Community Centre, 57 Souris, Street, Napinka.
