Celebration of Life
Obituary of Terry (Taras) Lysaichuk
We announce with sadness the passing of Terry (Taras) Lysaichuk, (Gigi) at the age of 86. Born in Libau, Manitoba, to Lena and Dmytrow Lysaichuk on July 19, 1939, Terry and his sister Elizabeth (Liz) spent their formative years in Libau and Rossburn. After completing his education, Terry began his career with Manitoba Hydro, serving in various roles including electrical journeyman, linesman, and customer service officer. He retired on July 29, 1994, following 38 years of dedicated service.
Terry met Eileen Jablonski in 1958, sustaining a long-distance relationship during his time working in Northern Manitoba. The couple married in 1960 and welcomed their children—Diane in 1962, Carla in 1964, and Susan in 1966. Terry’s work brought the family to Niverville, Lundar, and eventually Brandon, where they settled in 1972. They resided at 44 Aster Crescent for 52 years before moving to Dinsdale Personal Care Home in 2024.
Throughout his career and entrepreneurial pursuits, Terry was noted for his dedication, interest in business, and commitment to family. His approach to challenges and practical expertise set an example for those around him. In Lundar, he opened the Marshall Wells store, developed a mobile home park, and operated a "fixit shop" that addressed diverse repair needs in the community.
Upon relocating to Brandon, Terry established Grand Valley Contracting alongside colleagues from Manitoba Hydro, and initiated the retail store Toyland. Together with Eileen, he invested considerable effort in making these ventures successful.
Terry’s enthusiasm for auctions was well known; he frequently sought out items for repurposing and enjoyed sharing his finds with others. His travels included journeys across Canada, the United States, and Europe, with Thomas Lake being especially significant due to his development of 32 lots there. He maintained a strong connection to animals, exemplified by his relationship with Daisy and Taffy, his loyal dogs.
Terry regularly attended the MacDonalds retired coffee group, contributing to conversations and fostering camaraderie. He valued time with his grandchildren, great grand children, supported the Blue Jays, and assisted those in need. Terry’s legacy is reflected in his family, community projects, and the positive impact he made over the years. He will be remembered and missed by many.
Left to carry on his legacy, his wife of 65 years, Eileen, his three daughters and families, Diane Lysaichuk (Colin Sheloff), Michael Bradford, Elana Decker-Mikulski(Rebecca, Jonathan), Carla Falloon (Glen), Lizanne Szabo (Cory, Kylo and Olsyn Rae), Joshua Szabo, Zachary Szabo (Tai), Miranda Ostash (Derek, Xander), Laurisa Falloon (Jessa and Luke), Dale Falloon (Jenny, Nova). Susan Dyck (Brent), Alyssa Dyck (Derian, Lawson Penziwol), Madison (Eric) Ireland.
We would like to extend our thanks to the entire team at the Dinsdale Personal Care Home for the great care he received.
