It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Lillian Hannah Lawrence on May 2, 2026, at Valleyview Personal Care Home, at 98 years of age. She was born in Wolseley, Saskatchewan, on March 22, 1928.
Lillian is survived by, and will always be lovingly remembered by, her son Brian Lawrence (Phyllis), Debra Bauche (Frank), and Donna Lawrence Harris; her grandchildren Elvi Lawrence Shanks, Megan Nevin (Geoff), Matthew Bauche (Melissa), Breanne Bauche, Kari (John) Dunlop and Kristopher Fishley; her sister Alice Sander and long-time friend, Frank Skuce.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Keith, her grandson Jason Bauche, and her brothers Eric, Dave, and Ernest (Bud).
Lillian was born to parents Henry and Lily Hannibal. The family moved from Maple Creek, Saskatchewan, to Makinak, Manitoba, when she was very young. She completed Grades 9, 10, and part of Grade 11 by correspondence.
Lillian and Keith were married on February 26, 1952. They settled in Brandon and moved six times within the city. They had three children: Brian in 1953, followed by twins Debra and Donna in 1955.
She was blessed with 7 grandchildren, 13 great‑grandchildren, and 4 great‑great‑grandchildren.
Lillian worked for Safeway for many years in both Brandon and Dauphin until her retirement. She was incredibly hardworking, taking on many extra jobs while raising her family. She worked banquets at the Canadian Inn, sold Avon, and sewed for her family and many others. She loved to knit and crochet.
She was a lifelong member of the Brandon Shrine Club, Eastern Star, UCT, and Central United Church.
Lillian loved golfing at Glen Lea Golf Course and continued to golf into her late 80's. She enjoyed curling and won the city championship in 1968. She loved cheering for the Blue Jays and the Jets, and especially enjoyed watching curling on TV. She also loved attending live curling events held in Brandon and volunteered for the Canada Winter Games, World Curling, and UCT Bingo, and followed the horse racing circuit for many years
They spent many winters in Texas and loved spending time there. Mom drove there and back every time !!
She cherished every update about her grandchildren’s and great‑grandchildren’s activities and was immensely proud of each of them.
A celebration of her life will be held at Brockie Donovan, 332 8th Street, Brandon on Monday, May 11, 2026 at 1:00 P.M.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to all the staff at Valleyview Personal Care Home for their care and compassion during Mom’s time there.
Donations in Lillian’s memory may be made to the Brandon Humane Society or to a charity of your choice.
