Obituary of Clendon Baker
Clendon William Harry Baker passed away peacefully at Hillcrest Place Personal Care Home on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at the age of 94 years.
Clendon was born on August 15, 1931, in Alameda, Saskatchewan, to William ("Bill") and Helmi Baker.
A few years later, the family moved to a farm just south of Brandon, Manitoba. Clendon lived there in his younger years before moving to his own property on Patricia Avenue East, where he married and started a family. In 1969, they moved and settled on a farm in the Brandon Hills/Spring Valley area, where he built a life with his family and created cherished memories for over 50 years.
Clendon married Emma Weiss, who came from a farming family in Darlingford, Manitoba. Together they welcomed two children: daughter Donna in 1965 and son William in 1970.
Clendon was a devoted family man, farmer, hunter, friend, hard worker, problem solver, optimist, and someone who genuinely enjoyed life. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved spending time with people. Whether at birthday parties, poker nights, curling, or coffee in town, he enjoyed good conversation, sharing stories, and life's simple pleasures.
He loved his cattle, tractors, and keeping the yard just right, and there was always another project underway. He was constantly finding practical ways to make things work better, and the farm was where he was happiest.
He also loved hunting and somehow always seemed to get his deer early in the season. Wild game was always a staple in the freezer.
Clendon was hardworking and resilient. He faced life's challenges with hope and determination. He remained independent on the farm far longer than most people thought possible. He found contentment in a simple life, focused on what mattered most, and left behind countless memories for those who knew and loved him.
His family will always remember him as a man who found joy in simple things, worked hard, laughed often, and was happiest on the farm he called home.
Clendon is survived by his children, Donna Gerlinger and William (Christine) Baker; his grandchildren, Jodie Larson-Pendock, Joel Gerlinger, Jared Gerlinger, Cayden Baker, Aleah Baker, and Jaxon Baker; his great-grandchildren, Cohen and Sienna Larson-Pendock; his siblings, Donald (Diane) Baker, Albert Baker, and Jean (Bud) White; as well as many extended family members and in-laws. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Helmi Baker, and his brother, Norm Baker and sister-in-law Edith Baker.
A time of visitation was held at Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332–8th Street, Brandon, on Monday, June 22, 2026. A private family graveside service was held on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at Brandon Hills Cemetery, officiated by Kim Lewarne.

A Tribute to the Life of Clendon and his lifelong dedication to the Wawanesa Game and Fish organization will be held on Saturday, December 5th, 2026 during the annual Christmas supper and awards night at the Wawanesa Community Center. Clendon would be thrilled to see his friends and family gather in his honour at one of his favourite events of the year. Tickets will be available through Shannon Mayo when they become available.
