April 3, 1934 – June 22, 2026

 

It is with great sadness that the family of Steve Hudey announces his passing on Monday, June 22, 2026 at the age of 92.

 

Born and raised in Neepawa, Manitoba, Steve carried with him throughout his life the values of hard work, kindness, and devotion to family and friends. He dedicated 39 years of service to Manitoba Hydro, working in communities across Manitoba, including Steinbach, Brandon, Thompson, Riding Mountain, and Russell. His commitment and strong work ethic earned him the respect and friendship of many colleagues over the years.

 

Steve was first and foremost a family man and a loving, caring husband. He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Ceone, and by his children Ron (Brenda), Randy (Angie), Rhonda, Michael, and Mark (Dorothy). He also held a special place in his heart for close family friends Gail and Tim, who shared many cherished memories with him.

 

Steve was predeceased by his beloved son, Richard, whose memory remained close to his heart throughout his life and his daughter-in-law Gail.

 

In his younger years, Steve was an enthusiastic hockey player. His love of sports continued long after his playing days, as he spent countless hours coaching and transporting children to hockey games and various sporting events throughout Manitoba. He took great pride in encouraging young athletes and supporting them in every way he could.

 

An avid golfer, Steve continued enjoying rounds at his favourite course well into his nineties, delighting in the occasional par and the friendships forged along the fairways. Following retirement, he found joy in woodworking and could often be found happily puttering in his workshop. The beautiful pieces he created are treasured keepsakes that adorn the homes of his family and loved ones, serving as lasting reminders of his craftsmanship and generosity.

 

Steve also loved camping and fly fishing, embracing every opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. Above all, Steve will be remembered for his gentle spirit, unwavering love for his family, and his willingness to lend a helping hand. His legacy lives on through the values a he instilled, the memories he created, and the many lives he touched.

 

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
