Anita Armstrong (née Cancade)
June 20, 1940 – July 16, 2026
It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Anita Armstrong (née Cancade) on July 16, 2026. A beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, Anita spent the majority of her life making a warm home and vibrant community in Brandon, Manitoba.
Born in Virden, Manitoba, on June 20, 1940, Anita’s early life was marked by a wonderful spirit of adventure. Her nursing career began with an internship in the beautiful islands of Bermuda. Later, she embraced the life of a military spouse, following the postings of her husband, Bob, to Germany, New Brunswick, and Halifax.
Eventually, Anita returned to her roots in Manitoba, settling in Brandon. There, she channeled her creativity and business savvy into her career, becoming a well-known local small business owner in the retail fabric industry—a profession she dedicated herself to for the remainder of her working years.
Beyond her career, Anita found joy in the simple and beautiful things in life. She had a lifelong love for flowers, a deep interest in spirituality, and cherished peaceful days cottaging at Clear Lake. Above all, Anita loved her family and her dogs, who brought immeasurable joy and comfort to her everyday life.
Anita is lovingly remembered and survived by her devoted children, Randy (Kahori) and Kevin (Kristin); her grandchildren, Midori, Joshua, and Emily; her former husband Bob, and her siblings, Judy, Ed (Sue), Ray (Wanda), Francis (Theresa) and Giselle. She also leaves behind her faithful canine companion, Zoey.
She was predeceased by her beloved parents, Joseph and Bertha Cancade, and her brother, Arthur.

A celebration of Anita’s life will be held at Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332-8th Street,
on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at 11:00 a.m.
