Beverley Haverstock

Beverly Joyce Haverstock (Gilbert), beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and friends on February 27, 2024 at the age of 70 years. Bev, the daughter of Clarence and Wilma Gilbert, was raised in Brandon, MB with her brother Fred Gilbert.

Bev, born on September 13, 1953, in Brandon, MB, discovered her love of horses at the Gilbert family farm and through her involvement in 4-H, laying the foundation for her lifelong passion. Her remarkable skills as an equestrian, along with her remarkable driving hands and her unwavering love of horses were evident throughout her life.

Bev’s journey was marked with love, laughter, and a zest for life that was contagious. From curling on the ice to golfing on the green, she approached every activity with enthusiasm and joy. In her later years, she spent much time camping with her lifelong partner and best friend, Al. Her adventurous spirit and love for laughter made her a cherished friend to many.

As a devoted wife to her beloved husband Al, and a loving mother to her daughter Jamie-Dee, Bev’s pride and love for her family were unwavering. Her role as a grandmother to Jessie and Shelby brought her immense joy, and her influence will forever be treasured by her family.

Bev’s love for life shone bright in the joy she got from watching and supporting her girls. Whether it was the many years traveling with Jamie-Dee to attend numerous horse shows, watching Jessica’s basketball games, or taking in Shelby’s hockey, she was everyone’s #1 cheerleader.

Bev was predeceased by her father Clarence in 2011, her mother Wilma in 2017, her father-in-law Edward Haverstock in 1987 and mother-in-law Virginia Haverstock in 2018. Bev is survived by her husband Al; daughter Jamie-Dee; granddaughters Jessica and Shelby; brother Fred (Alice) Gilbert as well as many other family members including siblings-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Though she may be gone from our sight, her spirit will live on in the countless lives she touched with her kindness, generosity and love.

A celebration of life to honour Bev was held on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at the Royal Canadian Legion in Brandon. Many thanks to everyone that was able to be in attendance and to those that continue to reach out to provide comfort and support.

As we reflect on Bev’s life, let us remember the words of the poem “The Dash”, which reminds us that what matters most are not the dates on the tombstone, but how we lived and loved during the time in between.
