Obituary of Lorraine Richardson

RICHARDSON: Ethel "Lorraine" Richardson. It is with sadness and fond memories of our mom and grandmother that we announce her passing on June 30, 2013 at the Assiniboine Centre. Lorraine was born sixth of nine children to Francis and Ethel Lang in Coulter, MB. She took her schooling in Coulter, Melita and attended Business College in Winnipeg. Lorraine taught school in Coulterville, MB and later moved to Brandon where she worked at Scott National Fruit, then continued her career at Dyck Agencies before retiring in 1987 from the Alcoholism Foundation of Manitoba. Lorraine and George were married on June 16, 1948 in Lyleton, MB and enjoyed 62 years together before George's passing in 2010. Lorraine spent many hours sewing, visiting, going out to eat and also enjoyed travelling. She loved playing cards with George, her family and her grandchildren. Lorraine was a kind, gentle lady with a quick smile who made friends easily. She was a member of the Naomi Rebekah Lodge and also a faithful member of Central United Church Choir. She is survived by son Ron, grandchildren Riley and Savannah, daughter Sharon, granddaughter Marilee (Rob) and great-granddaughter Harper, granddaughter Michelle, brothers Reg (Jean) Lang, Andy (Ila) Lang, sisters-in-law Edie Hendricks and Irene Brown; cousin Bruce Lang and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Pallbearers were nieces Donna Cameron, Debbie Holmes, Ruth Mealy, nephews Don Richardson, Terry Brown and Garry Lang. Our family expresses sincere thanks to the staff at Valleyview Care Centre for the care and kindness Mom received in her last three years. Funeral Service was held on July 4, 2013 at Brockie Donovan Chapel with Kim Lewarne officiating. Donations in memory of Lorraine may be made to the Coultervale Cemetery Maintenance Fund, c/o Mary Anne Bell, Coulter, MB, R0M 0G0 or a charity of your choice.
