Obituary of Paul Goulet
GOULET: It is with great sadness that the family of Paul R. Goulet, affectionately known as "Grumpa", announce his passing at Fairview Home on September 9, 2013.
Paul was born on November 8, 1922 in Cutknife, Saskatchewan.
Paul enlisted in the Canadian army in Saskatoon on June 11, 1942 and was a L/Bdr with the 3rd Light Anti-Aircraft regiment, Royal Canadian artillery, 2nd division. He served in Canada, the United Kingdom and continental Europe. He was the recipient of the 1939-45 Star, the France and Germany Star, the Defence medal, the Canadian volunteer service medal with clasp and the War medal 1939-45. He was always a quietly proud veteran.
Upon returning to civil life, Paul farmed, worked in the transportation industry and in sales.
He leaves to mourn, Simone, his beloved wife of 67 years, his sons Denis (Gerri) Goulet, Roland (Bev) Goulet, his daughters, Pauline (Bruce) McConnell, and Lorraine (Garry) Winters as well as 11 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. He also leaves his brothers, Noel (Carmen) Goulet and John (Lorraine) Douville and many cherished nieces and nephews.
Paul was predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Noella (Biron) Goulet, his son Guy Goulet, and brothers, Fern Goulet, Denis Douville, and sister Betty Sankey as well as numerous brothers and sisters in-law.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church on September 16, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. Kevin Smith officiating. A private family interment will take place in the veterans section of the Brandon Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Mark Winters, Neil Winters, Jesse Winters, Kevin Goulet, Brian Goulet, Daniel Goulet, Eric McConnell, and Cameron Rice.
In memory of Paul, donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society c/o St. Augustine's Church, or to a charity of choice. May he rest in peace.
