Herman van den Ham posted a condolence

Having kept in touch via my parents, John and Joan van den Ham, we were kept up to date as to where and how Ada was doing, because she and my folks would call each other up to catch up on the latest events. Personally, I have many fond memories of Ada, as she was like a grandmother to me, as Fraser was like a grandfather, because I had little opportunity to know my grandparents because they remained in Holland. We as a family are forever indebted to the kindness that the Clark family displayed to the van den Ham family in their start as immigrants to this country in the mid fifties. Due to the confidence and the opportunities shown to us, we were able to succeed here in Manitoba. My folks were in Holland at the time of the funeral and, to be honest, I completely forgot the date---our condolences to both of you, Jim and John and to your families. Would have been great to catch up with you both. Herman and Dianne

I was saddened to learn of Ada's passing. Having lost my husband Ian recently on September 29, 2013 to Leukemia & my Mom (Winnie Stott) at age 103 on January 13 of this same year, I share your loss of a loved one.
Back on our days of growing up on the farm, I have fond memories of neighbors Ada, Fraser & boys. Mom & Ada were very close friends & I still have a photo of the musical trio of Mom (banjo), Ada (accordian) & neighbor Marion Pottinger (guitar) - they performed at many community functions in their white cowboy hats & matching vests. As well, I have great memories (& photos of) Zion Sunday School & the large rhythm band organized & put together by Ada (I played accordian).
Having re-located from Manitoba to the Alberta Foothills 6 years ago to be closer to our family, we subscribe to Brandon Sun Online; thus, reading of Ada's passing. I enjoyed several phone visits with Ada when she lived in the Okanogan & she always asked about Mom. I will always remember Ada as a warm, cheery, generous lady & a great leader. My thoughts & prayers are with her family.
In Sympathy,
Sharon (Stott) Bobiak

My recollection of those days is rather limited. Having said this, I do remember a Smith family, not by faces or names, but by the large green Chrysler that they drove. Was that you?

I was a Sunday School member at Zion Church not far from where Frazer and Ada lived--Ada was my favorite Sunday School Teacher. I still have the Birthday book that was given for attending for quite a few years. My husband and I extend our heartfelt Sympathy to the family--you will have wonderful memories that no one can take away.

I have many, many good memories of this lovely lady, but one of my favorite ones is of her, lined up at her kitchen counter with two or three young grandchildren, baking. When Sue, Jeff and Deb were small, they were too short to reach the counter top, so Gramma Clark had one of her many good ideas. She would pull out the big bottom drawer, in which she kept her pots, empty them out, and flip the drawer upside down, so that a couple of kids could stand on the bottom of it and be tall enough to be able to help her cut out scones and punch down the dough for buns and stick more chocolate chips in the cookies. And then she'd let them eat what they'd made, in spite of whatever meal was being prepared. She was a wonderful grandmother!
To me, she was a true friend. I always called her, and thought of her, as my 'Other Mother', and will miss her very much.
My daughters and I are so sorry that we will be unable to attend her funeral service this Thursday. Sue and her husband are living in Sweden, Deb and her family are on vacation in Disneyworld, and I am at a conference in Ottawa, but we will all be thinking of her that day. We are glad that Jeff will be able to be there for us.
And when we are all together in Brandon this Christmas, we will fondly remember both Gramma and Grampa Clark, as we always do, and, as we always do when everyone is home, we will visit their graves and be grateful for having had them in our lives.

We were sorry to read of Ada's passing, but rejoice knowing she is with her Heavenly Father. Ada was a special fried to mom (Winnie Stott) and it was through attending one of Ada's Bible Studies that mom accepted Christ as her Saviour. We regret that we will be unable to attend Ada's Celebration of Life Ceremony due to a prior out-of-town commitment, but want to express our sincerest sympathies to you as a family at this time of your loss. Our thoughts & prayers are with you....Love, Cyril & Tiena Stott

Ian Cumming posted a condolence

I am a second cousin of Fraser Clark, through my great-grandfather, James Cumming (1831-1920) of Brandon, and his daughter, Martha Jane Cumming (1862-1933). Martha married John Gray Grant (1860-1951), and John and Martha's daughter, Jessie Irene Grant (1891-1973) married Roy Clark (1894-1981), who are the parents of Fraser Clark.
I have never had the pleasure of meeting Fraser and Ada, or any of their descendants, as I have only recently gotten to know of the family through my genealogical research. I have corresponded with many Grant/Clark/Murray/McPhail family members, but unfortunately, not with any of Fraser and Ada's family.
I have a large genealogical data base, with hundreds of Grant/Clark/Murray/McPhail family members recorded. If any of you would like to know more of the family history, I would be delighted to hear from you.
With my best wishes to all the family, Ian Cumming, Dept. of ECE, UBC, Vancouver, ianc at ece.ubc.ca
