Obituary of Robert John Richards

RICHARDS: Robert (Bob) John Richards of Killarney, Manitoba, passed away suddenly on November 6, 2013 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre, with his beloved family by his side. Bob was born on June 14, 1952 in Killarney. He started school at Oak Ridge School and graduated from Grade 12 in Killarney. He attended Brandon University where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree with a Major in Zoology. During his lifetime, he worked as a wildlife biologist, farmer and school bus driver. He married the love of his life, Christine Ann Stewart, at Trinity United Church in Portage la Prairie on May 18, 1974. They welcomed their first child, Ian Robert, on October 29, 1982 followed by daughter, Kathleen Margaret Davina, on June 17, 1989. Bob was very involved in the community, belonging to the Kinsmen Club, the Masons, the Curling Club, and he served on many committees within the Killarney United Church. He really took pleasure in all of his endeavours, which included farming, building a beautiful herd of Hereford cattle and golfing. He enjoyed all of the children he drove on the school bus for 34 years, and he and Christine made many wonderful friends with fellow bus drivers and through his involvement in Mason's organizations. Bob's greatest achievements were his children. He and Christine were very proud of them. Bob is survived by his loving wife Christine, his beloved children Ian and Kathleen, his mother Marianne, his two brothers Craig (Anne) and Brent (Margaret Lynn), sister-in-law Kathleen (Ron), Aunt Dorothy Riddell, nieces and nephews Meagan, Kaylie, Alexandra, Shelae, Sean and Sheena, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Bob was predeceased by his father John Richards, mother-in-law Edna Stewart and brother-in-law David Stewart. A private immediate family service was held at the George Brockie Fellowship Centre at Brockie Donovan on Saturday, November 9, 2013 with Rev. Joe Ball officiating.
