Obituary of Charlotte Ann Tosch

TOSCH: Charlotte Ann Tosch, beloved wife of Charles and dear mother of Jody Anderson (Twyla) and Ian Tosch, passed away peacefully at the Brandon Regional Health Center on Wednesday, November 13, 2013. Charlotte was born in Southampton, Long Island, New York on December 21, 1940 and was the second youngest child of Herbert Keith Anderson Sr. and Sybil Rae Fithian of East Hampton, Long Island, NY. Growing up in East Hampton, NY and attending East Hampton High School, Charlotte's early years were spent enjoying playing tennis for her high school team, sharing her love of the sea, and spending time at Wiborg beach, close to her childhood home, with family and friends. After graduation she began to work at Sag Harbor Industries, where she met her future love and husband, a man by the name of Charles Tosch. It was an undeniable connection between the two and both hit it off easily. Because of that connection Charlotte left her beloved East Hampton and joined Charles in Brandon. In 1969, Charlotte and Charles were married and began their journey together. Charlotte began work in Brandon at the office of the Central United Church, before moving to the Western Manitoba Centennial Auditorium in 1970. It was here at the WMCA she would spend her working career giving 40 years helping to shape the cultural identity of the community before retiring in 2010. Charlotte was a fixture at the WMCA, and during her years there developed may close relationships within the arts and entertainment community as well as becoming family with her co-workers. Charlotte loved her community, and showed it through her countless volunteering with community projects. Any project Charlotte was a part of, she always became a driving force for success, and a welcoming representative. Her role with the Lt. Governor's Winter Festival helped to display the diversity of her present community. Acting as a member of the executive committee helped Charlotte to develop and grow the festival. Charlotte was also involved with the Western Manitoba Pioneer Auto Club, helping to bring antique and classic car shows to the city. This included a regular cruise night where many classic cars and trucks could be shared with the community. Charlotte was also passionate in her help with the youth of the community with her work with the Boy Scouts of Canada. Her support helped to shape the hearts and minds, and pass on her sense of community to future generations of Brandonites. Charlotte was always selflessly giving of herself to make anything she was involved with the best that it could be. Charlotte was a hometown sports fan through and through. Her love of her hometown team was always there, especially when it came to baseball. From the NY Yankees in her early years, all the way to her support and boosting of her later hometown Brandon Grey Owls, Charlotte always gave whatever support she could to help the cause and help cheer the home team to victory. Charlotte's passion and love for her community came through in all aspects of her life. From her love of cooking for her family and friends, to organizing neighborhood ice cream socials, Charlotte was always able to make one feel welcome, whether you were new to the neighborhood or a long-time resident. Charlotte's door was always open to you, and she always had a talent for making you feel at home. Charlotte's life was one which was too grand for words to express adequately. She was an eagle soaring through the clear blue sky which we could all look up to and aspire to achieve. Charlotte's love and life is reflected through all those whose lives she has touched. Charlotte, beloved wife, caring mother and grandmother, loyal friend, you will be missed but never forgotten. Charlotte was predeceased by her parents and eleven brothers and sisters. She is survived by her husband Charles, sons Jody (Twyla) Anderson and Ian Tosch; sister Jean Snow; grandsons Jody and William Anderson, and honorary grandson James Bowering. Donations in memory of Charlotte may be made to the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation, Palliative Care, 150 McTavish Ave. East, Brandon, MB, R7A 2B3 or to the Canadian Cancer Society, 418-1st Street, Brandon, MB, R7A 2W8.
