Lawrie Mitchell was a man with passion for food, travel and had a way of making everyone feel welcome. He realized his dream of sharing his cooking skills to North America at an early age when he and his brother Bob started Mitchell Concessions. When I met Lawrie at the age of 16, he taught me to enjoy life, pursue your dreams, respect others and told me to "sing and dance whenever you can regardless of how bad you sing and the fact you cannot dance Tim".
In the 35 years we knew each other his heart was always in the right place.
His life lessons are still with me today.
The world is a better place because of the people he touched.
Lawrie Mitchell will be missed!

I have known Lawrie for as long as I can remember. I was almost 2 years old when he was born, when our families both moved to the 1000 block on 13th Street in the South End of Brandon. There was one house between the Mitchells and the Hogelands, but we were like one family back then. Our families went on weekend camping trips together, we went to each other's birthday parties, played 'kick the can' in the back lane with the other neighbourhood kids, attended the same schools, and also the same Sunday School. Lawrie was in the Church choir at a young age, and was a good vocalist and entertainer. I still vividly remember Lawrie singing "Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah" at a Legion Christmas Concert, when he was about 10! Lawrie remained a good friend throughout the years. Sadly, lifelong friends from our old neighbourhood are passing away at too young an age. I am glad to have had a visit with Lawrie this past summer in Calgary. I will cherish my many memories of him. To Beth, Lawrence, Kristina, Steven and families: wishing you peace to bring comfort, courage to face the days ahead, and loving memories to forever hold in your hearts. I hope it helps somewhat to know that others are keeping you all close in thought. ~ Kindest personal regards, Donna

Bill and I extend our sincerest condolensces to Mitch's family and friends. There will be a large emptiness felt in our lives.
We met Mitch 36 years ago on our first venture of the exhibition circuit, he invited us to his motorhome after hours for a 5 coarse meal! How many times have we dined together? EVERYWHERE - across Canada and Florida, even a motorhome tour to California.
He was a "KING" A very smart and kind man,. Will miss hearing his witty comments!

my deepest condolences to the entire Mitchell family and his carnie family. Mitch was a dear friend and was like a father to me. I know he has left an impression on all of us. Between him and his brother Bob (another dad to me) i have got my work ethic from, and they will forever be in my heart and in my memories. Will never forget the years on the road making mitch's "dark meat" only turkey sandwhiches in the cookhouse.
May u and Bob be together to watch over everyone for eternity. Love and miss u with all my heart.

I was saddened to hear the loss of "Mitch" and will miss him very much. I am most grateful for getting to know and work for Mitch over the past 3 years. Mitch taught me so many things, especially how to make the best "Lemonade". I hope you at the TOP of the FERRIS WHEEL Mitch and "singing" as I so often heard you do in the kitchen.
My sincere sympathy goes out to Beth and Mitch's family, Winnipeg has lost an ICON.
