Obituary of Alan Richard Crang

CRANG: Alan Richard, beloved son of Bob and Norma Crang and dear brother of Rob, Jeff and Susan, passed away at the age of 48 years, Monday, January 20, 2014. Alan was born on March 16, 1965 at Brandon General Hospital and lived his entire life in Brandon. He attended George Fitton Elementary, Earl Oxford Junior High and graduated from Crocus Plains High School. While at Crocus Plains, Alan enjoyed the woodworking program and was always eager to share his finished projects with his parents and siblings. This fondness for woodworking carried on over the years at Ventures where he made himself a pendulum clock, a rocking horse for his nephew and many other items. One of his jobs was at the Green Spot Garden Centre where his love of plants began. He was always eager to share the names of the flowers and plants he tended to and on occasion, he would bring home a nice container of flowers or a plant. Come spring, Alan was always eager to help clean up the yard and plant the garden. He always had a willing heart to assist others whether it was helping his brother lay driveway bricks or mowing lawns, painting fences, giving Dad a hand whenever needed, or helping Mom in the kitchen. Alan's lifelong interests were music, his dogs, his cars and collecting. He acquired a multitude of clocks, watches, stereos and specialty radios over several decades. Alan will always be remembered as being a gentle, kind, loving, and generous person. He loved his family and couldn't wait for them to come and visit or to go and visit them. He especially loved his nieces and nephew and they loved him in return. During childhood, Alan and his brother Jeff were best buddies and did everything together from building go-carts, forts, kites and riding bicycles. Alan had a special fondness for his sister Susan and she for him. Susan enjoyed hearing Alan laugh so she would keep him supplied with special T-shirts with comical sayings on them. Rob was Alan's confidante, the brother he would go to and say, "Rob, can I tell you something?" Rob would always lend his ear and quietly listen to what Alan had to say. Alan will be lovingly remembered by his mom and dad, brothers Rob and Jeff (Crystal), sister Susan, nieces Robyn, Samantha, Allyson, Allegra, Marcena and nephew Brendan and many aunts and uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his grandparents Norman and Irene Cummings, Findlater and Marie Crang, his uncles Jack Crang, David Crang and Keith Cummings and his dogs, Kelly and Suki. A Celebration of Life for Alan was held at Brockie Donovan Chapel on Thursday, January 30, 2014. Father Chad McCharles officiated. Pallbearers were Rob, Jeff, and Susan. Interment followed at the Brandon Cemetery. Donations may be made in memory of Alan to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Unit A1-800 Rosser Avenue, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 6N5. We love you Alan. You will always hold a special place in our hearts. Rest in Peace our dear son and brother. Until we meet again….
