Obituary of Alice Topp

TOPP: Alice. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mom, granny and great granny. Alice passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at Fairview Home. Alice was born December 30, 1930 in the R.M. of Argyle to John and Gudrun Bardarson. It was growing up on the family farm at Baldur, where her love for animals came to be. She met the love of her life, Bob Topp, while he was working in Glenboro. They were married June 4, 1949 and had shared over 64 years together. From this union, they were blessed with two children, son Bob born in 1950, and daughter Norma born in 1953. Alice worked at Pioneer Electric for a while, she ran the canteen there. She then went on to drive a school bus for the Brandon School Division for over 20 years. She loved this job very much. She loved the children she drove each day. She also loved the friendships she made with her fellow drivers. Alice loved her family, she was always there to share in all the good times and help out whenever she could. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were a very important part of her life. Her other love was for animals, and she was never happier when her grandchildren were at the barn with her, riding the horses. Alice's hands were always busy, if she wasn't looking after her animals; she was sewing, knitting, scrapbooking or doing many others crafts. Alice loved to take pictures and you could always count on her to have her camera wherever she was. Alice is survived by her loving husband Bob, son Bob (Sandra), daughter Norma (Norman) Roziere, many grandchildren and great grandchildren. The ceremony to celebrate Alice's life was held at the Brockie Donovan Chapel on Monday, February 3, 2014 with Funeral Celebrant, Kim Lewarne officiating. A tribute to Mom was given by daughter Norma and reflections by Gerry Smit.
