Obituary of Douglas Campbell

CAMPBELL: Douglas Campbell: Doug was born October 8, 1920 in Brandon and resided on the family farm for his first 21 years. He served in the Royal Canadian Signals Corp from 1942 to 1946. He married Jean (Collins) Rosenman in 1949. He also bought farmland that same year, which he enjoyed working for many years. Doug was an employee of the Manitoba Liquor Control Commission for 30 years and retired in 1982. He enjoyed dancing and curling at the Legion, and met his wife at a dance. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, meeting friends for coffee, reading, gardening and an occasional cigar. Doug passed away at his residence, Fairview Home, on Friday, February 14, 2014 at the age of 93 years. He leaves to mourn his son David (Pam), step-daughter Marilyn; brother Keith, grandchildren Elisha (Angela), Catie, James and Rosa; great granddaughters Ella and Lena. He was predeceased by his parents, Dan and Lena, brother Don, sister Elaine, infant son Frankie, and his beloved wife of 63 years, Jean. A memorial service to honour Doug's life will be held at the Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332-8th Street, on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Craig Miller officiating. Interment will follow at the Brandon Cemetery.
