Obituary of Olive Noreen Perry

PERRY: Olive Perry, (née Green) a long-time resident of Brandon, passed away peacefully at Fairview Personal Care Home on March 10, 2014. Olive was born December 16th, 1923 in Birtle, MB and moved to Brandon when she was seventeen. She met Basil Perry and they married February 23, 1945. They had four children, Bob, Dianne, Betty and Heather. Olive worked for many years at the Assiniboine Centre as a Unit Clerk where she made many friends. She was still a familiar face to many hospital staff who remembered her whenever they met. With her vast experience and knowledge of medical issues from working at the hospital, family members fondly remember her ability to diagnose and recommend treatment for each of her children's and grandchildren's ailments. Olive was a great cook and loved her own cooking so much she was always the first to compliment the chef! In her retirement years, Olive moved to Lion's Manor. During those years she enjoyed golfing, bowling, line dancing, playing in the band and singing in the choir. She also enjoyed the occasional bus trip with her good friend, Joyce. She will be greatly missed by her children Bob (Sharon) Perry of Erickson; Dianne (John) Down of High River, AB; Betty (Neil) Cochrane of Brandon and Heather (Lyle) Tranberg of Esterhazy, SK. She will also be missed by nine grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. Olive was predeceased by her husband Basil, her grandson Trent Perry and five sisters and two brothers. A celebration of life will be held at Brockie Donovan Funeral Home, 332-8th Street, on Friday May 2nd, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. A private family interment will take place at the Brandon Cemetery prior to the service.
