Obituary of Dorothy Haynes

HAYNES: Dorothy. It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Dorothy Haynes. Mum passed away peacefully at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at the age of 96. She was predeceased in 2010 by her husband of 68 years, Leonard James Haynes. Mum was born December 2, 1917 in Brandon, the fourth child of Sid and Mary Harrowen, and resided in Brandon her entire life. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and is survived by daughter Bev (Gord) Derouin, son Murray (Deb Hall), grandchildren Michelle (Namir) Dunn, Marc (Stacy) Derouin, Branden, Todd and Ryan Haynes and great-grandchildren Jayden Derouin, Tyson and Trey Dunn. Also surviving, in Brandon, are sisters-in-law Greta Graham and Harriet Haynes, niece Donna Harrowen and nephew Reg Shrives. Over the years, mum was active in UCW and Central United Church where she and dad where lifelong members. Like most people of her generation, mum was a loyal friend, conscientious worker, a wonderful cook and she also had a great sense of humour. Our memories of the fabulous Sunday suppers with her and dad will always be cherished, as well as the good times spent at the cabin at Clear Lake. We would like to thank the staff of Fairview Personal Care Home for their compassionate care of mum during the past two years. We would also like to acknowledge and thank Peter Eves and our cousin Donna Harrowen for everything they did for mum, especially visiting faithfully every week which she so looked forward to. Cremation has taken place, and a private graveside service will be held at a later date. Donations in her memory may be made to a charity of choice.
