Joyce, Todd, Wade, Becky and the Lumbard Families,
Please accept my deepest sympathy on Jack's passing. Unfortunately I was unable to make his service. Our families go back to the early days of my brother Mark and Todd playing hockey together and we have had Todd and Wade take care of the funerals for both my mother and father. Jack was a fine man and I feel honored to have known him for the years that I did. He was first class and fortunately I had the opportunity to see him outside of his profession and knew him as a man who enjoyed his family and was someone with a great sense of humour.

We just received word of Jack's sudden passing here in Scottsdale Arizona. Our sincerest condolences go out to Joyce and Todd and all the rest of the Lumbard family that we have had the pleasure to meet.
We will always remember our times with Jack and Joyce at various cities across Canada as we both served together as our Provincial Representatives of the original Canadian Funeral Directors Association which during our time became the Funeral Service Association of Canada [FSAC]. Jack and I shared numerous conversations discussing the changes that were taking place at that time. He was one of those who was a calming influence but extremely effective and passionate about Funeral Service. We very much enjoyed our association with Jack and Joyce at those annual meetings. His contribution to Canadian Funeral Service is something to be acknowledged and remembered as it took time from family and running one's own funeral operation.
His dedication to the advancement of the Funeral Profession will always be remembered by those of us who had the pleasure to work with him.

My friendship with Jack goes back to 1952 when we played Pony League baseball together. Jack was an excellent catcher, supportive and encouraging, but also very demanding- you had to do your very best.
I have a memory of Jack crouching behind the plate, pounding his mitt with his blue eyes flashing, imploring me to strike the batter out. And I did!
Playing baseball with Jack will always be a wonderful memory.
Our friendship has endured since age fourteen and will always be with me.
