Obituary of Deborah Lynn Quintaine

QUINTAINE: Deborah Lynn (Grimshaw). Peacefully, and surrounded by her family, Debbie passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. "I was born on November 29, 1952 in Brandon to two very wonderful parents, Stanley James and Betty Irene Grimshaw. Upon coming home from the hospital I met my two sisters, Gail and Doreen. My life was always full of love and caring. Horses and pets were always a part of my life and mom and dad spent the summers hauling us girls and our ponies all over the province to fairs. I showed my first pony at the age of four at the Royal Manitoba Winter Fair. Through the involvement with horses, I met the love of my life, Jim Quintaine in 1969, and married in 1971. In 1975, we were blessed with our son, Corey James. Jim's family business was livestock and with our marriage, the Quintaines included me in the business helping Jim's mother with the bookkeeping which became my life-long occupation. Working alongside with Jim has been an important part of my life being his wife, partner, and friend. No better person could I have partnered with. My life couldn't have been better filled with love, adventures and so many wonderful memories. Jim introduced me and Corey to camping and fishing in the Duck Mountains in the early 80's. This was a very new and scary experience for me the first year as I was sure a bear would get us, but I did look forward to going back. We returned every spring from then on and it was a part of my life I truly enjoyed. Fishing during the day, campfires at night and listening to the calls of the wildlife, no better place to be. Weekends during the summer were spent at our cabin at Brandosa Beach in Minnedosa where we made many new friends and had such good times. In the early 90's, I convinced Jim to take country dance lessons. We became a part of a dance group which travelled around entertaining at various activities throughout the province including Dauphin's Country Fest. We met so many great new friends and spent many weekends out dancing. During the winter months, we would take holidays to somewhere warm. We have vacationed in so many different places which all hold special memories; My favorite being Hawaii, which we were fortunately able to visit a number of times. In 2004, we made a trip to Idaho and purchased two horses which brought us back to the hobby which initially introduced Jim and I to each other. Over the years, we built up a cow/calf herd and spent our evenings on horseback checking the herd to make sure they were all okay. I really enjoyed those evenings watching the baby calves play and interact with their moms. As you have read, I have lived a wonderful life surrounded by so many loving and caring family and friends. You all take care. I was predeceased by my father Stanley James Grimshaw, mother Betty Irene Grimshaw, sister Doreen Little, mother-in-law Kathleen Quintaine. I am survived by my husband Jim, son Corey and friend Kurtis Kowalke, sister Gail (George) Miller, nephew Rodney (Sandee) Miller and family. Niece Sherry (Tim) Little and family, brother-in-law Russell Little, father-in-law Pete Quintaine, sister-in-law Bettie (Barrie) Wood, nieces Sharmyn Wood and family, Paula (Brian) Stirling and family, sister-in-law Pat (Clarence) Davis and nephews Rob (Margaret) Davis and family, Gerry (Crystal) Davis and family, Dan (Angela) Davis and family."
