Obituary of Ursel Karin Boucher

BOUCHER: Ursel Karin Boucher (nee Bakus), April 16, 1952 – April 9, 2014. Ursel was called to her Lord and Saviour on April 9th after a brief but valiant battle with cancer. Ursel was born April 16, 1952 in Revenahe, West Germany and immigrated to Canada with her family in 1954 where they settled in Winnipeg. Ursel graduated from Daniel MacIntyre Collegiate, followed by a year at North American Baptist Bible College in Edmonton, AB. When she returned to Winnipeg she took an accounting course at Red River College. She then worked at the Bank of Montreal in the Great West Life building where she met Jim. Ursel and Jim were married in December of 1974. After moving to Binscarth in 1978, Jim and Ursel ran a successful insurance agency for many years and Ursel became heavily involved in the community. When the business was sold, Ursel found a second career in administration at the Russell Alliance Church, prior to working as a Customer Service Representative with the Vanguard Credit Union. She is survived by her husband Jim of 39 years, her son Joel, daughter Moni and son-in-law Allan Robertson, brother Kurt Bakus (Anneliese), sister Ingrid Bredin (Don), brother-in-law Rubin Spletzer and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents Reinhold and Elise Bakus, sister Christel Spletzer, and niece Monika Spletzer. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to be made to the Russell Palliative Care unit at the Russell Area Health Centre or to the Byrce Summers medical fund at any Vanguard Credit Union location c/o Laurissa Fleury. A memorial service will be held at the Binscarth Community Hall, 230 3rd Ave. on Monday, April 14th at 1:00 p.m. CST.
