Obituary of Charles "Charlie" Trumbley

CHARLES THOMAS TRUMBLEY Charlie was born on the 9th day of June 1939 at the farm in White Beach, Saskatchewan. Charlie's early life was spent living with his parents and 11 brothers and sisters at that time. He did not complete a lot of schooling as he helped out on the family farm. Charlie and Roxanna were married in 1966. They lived up in Thompson where Charlie worked as a surface driller for ore, until he had an accident at work on July 28th, 1969, losing his eye sight that day. Charlie lived in Winnipeg for one year to heal up. He moved back to Swan River before moving on to Brandon where he received training at Norwood Gardens and at ARM Industries, where he spent 19 years as a trainee/supervisor. During those 49 years, Charlie had two children - Emery and Penny. When the kids got married and Charlie found out he was going to be a Grandpa, he was in a happy, joyous mood. He really thought a lot of his grandkids. They have a special spot in Grandpa's heart. After his divorce to Roxanna, Charlie spent a lot of time out at the lake where his cabin was his pride and joy. He spent many hours fishing, whether it was summertime or winter, and with whoever would take him out. The one thing he just loved was having a bonfire anytime of the day. While living at the lake, he met Darlene Stelmack, the love of his life. Charlie ended up selling his cabin and moving in to her cabin where they spent a lot of time fixing it up and just enjoying life together. They then moved to Brandon where Darlene ran a daycare. Dad was involved with that as well. Darlene had three kids of her own whom Charlie treated like his own. Charlie was very much included in their lives as well as their kids' lives. Since retiring from daycare, Charlie and Darlene did a lot of travelling throughout Manitoba and through to B.C. over the years. Charlie was very involved in AA where he helped many members, who also helped him in return. In March of this year, Charlie celebrated 43 years of sobriety. He enjoyed the socials and socializing with all the members as well as others. He would do anything for anybody and was always willing to help when needed. Charlie is survived by: Darlene, Emery, Penny, Shawna, Gary, Kenny and their families. Charlie is also survived by two sisters: Barb and Kathy. Charlie was predeceased by: his parents Betty and Norman, sisters: Darlene, Maggie, Louise, Ruby, Evelynn and Caroline, brothers: Robert, George, Jim, Hank, Buck, Fred and Bud. The family would like to thank those who were there for us at our time of need. Burial took place at the Brandon Cemetery on August 9, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. followed by a celebration of Charlie's life at Brockie Donovan. All were considered Honorary Pallbearers.
