Obituary of Sara Belle Van Laar

VAN LAAR: Sara Belle (née Flett), October 18, 1951 - Shoal Lake, MB - August 9, 2014 - Calgary, AB. Sara Belle, beloved wife of Paul Van Laar, passed away peacefully after a long and brave battle. She will be dearly missed, and lovingly remembered by her husband Paul, children Marga Sue and Danny. She is further survived, and will be very much missed by her sisters and brothers, Patsy (Anthony), Bruce (Christine), Jackie, Denise and Rick, their children, and cousins Beverly, Fay, Morley, Brenda, Vonda and Maxine. Sara grew up on the Keeseekoowenin reserve, and early on ventured out to become a Psychiatric and Registered nurse. After meeting Paul, she lived and worked in Northern Alberta, BC, and Calgary. A planned temporary move to Scotland became an 18 year stay, after which Canada was again the home country. She made many friends along the way, always helping out and offering people advice. Her skills in clothing design and sewing were second to none. The funeral service will be held at the McDiarmid Drive Alliance Church, 635 McDiarmid Drive, Brandon, MB on Friday, August 15, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Dan Pope officiating. Interment will take place at the Brandon Cemetery followed by a small lunch. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
