I had the great honour of working with Alden when I was a counsellor at the Native Healing Center in Prince George. I looked to him for wisdom on many occasions for the clients I worked with and he would always give me a new perspective. We would joke with him and that laughter was the therapy we needed most often to remain healthy. He was truly my spiritual mentor and my heart and prayers go out to his family over the loss of a great man who touched the lives of so many in such a meaningful way.
Rest In Peace my friend,
Julie Sprathoff AKA "Wonder Woman"

I missed the news last month my dear friend was such a good man and a real contributor to any community he was part of. He made PGNFC the place it was while we grew to be a large responsive organization. I thank him for his wisdom and openness in sharing his culture and teachings which helped us base ALL we did in the right way.....culturally and with an indigenous worldview.......for his soft, loving ways backed up by his firm knowledge of who he and his people were and are helped so many ........his persistence in the face of any adversary, including the residential school that tried to beat it out of him, his own demons and the wealth of loss and sadness created by the deaths of so many family members via the avenues of colonization, before the healing began........his love of people, even those others disregarded or threw away.......and his love, smiles and humour, 'little alden' was so much fun when he came out to play! I will see you again someday my friend, until then I know you are on a safe and incredible part of your journey. Say a big hello to Charles on that side, he's been waiting for one of those talks you both enjoyed for some time.
my love and thanks to Elsie and the rest of your family as I know your work and dedication to community often took you from their arms, I respect and love you for sharing alden with us.

I would like to send my condolences to Alden's family. He played a large part in my journey over a period of 10 years. It was a great honour to be taught by him. I know that I am late in sending this, however, I just found out of his passing.
Its been years since I saw him up here in Prince George at a pow wow. I still remember him watching me with his ever knowing eyes. He knew me better then I knew myself, he just had that way about him.
May you rest in peace Alden.....

I was good friends with Dorothy Francis and she took me to a sweat conducted by Alden many many years ago and Chief Robert Satiacum and myself took part. She told me that she had known Alden all his life and that she trusted him. It was a powerful experience for me and I never forgot you Alden. You did so much good while you were here with us and shared your knowledge so willingly. I am sure you are being rewarded now. With much respect. Lyn Crompton

Prayers and Condolences to Alden's Family and Friends. Alden had a great influence on my life during the 90's. During my time in Northern BC working with the people in Prince George, Quesnel and Williams Lake. He provided me with support, education and humor. He taught me to laugh at myself. I remember his "don't hug the shamin" button that always brought a smile to my face. I remember how he would fold up scraps of paper into small little bundles telling me to keep things neat and tidy as "our outer world was a reflection of our inner world." He showed me how to help people call their spirit back after trauma. He convinced me to take the young men to see Hutta Lake in an attempt to show them where they might end up. I could go on and on at all I learned from Alden. He was generous with his family time and took me along for a ride to Vancouver with them. Thank you Alden for all that you shared with me and my clients. RIP.

"I met Alden in the 90's while working at the PG Native Friendship Centre/Native Healing Centre. He was our Spiritual Advisor and I was counselling children. He was a true friend, leader, guide and before we each moved on he called me his "little sister". Alden put on a sweat one day with my co-workers all helping and at the last minute I couldn't attend and really felt I was missing my one chance to attend a sweat lodge with a mentor I trusted. Alden in his quiet voice just said I had to stay in the house but it happened for a reason. Later my co-workers and husband said the sweat was for me and went well. I never did attend a sweat yet but will never forget this kind, genuine man! I also had the priviledge to know his daughters and wife/heard about his son too. They were all wonderful and my heart goes out to you all at this time.

I had the honour of meeting Alden when I worked at the Prince George Native Friendship Centre many years ago. The impression he left with me has never been forgotten. He was wise and generous with his knowledge and he made everyone he came into contact with feel important for just being themselves. We have truly lost a great mentor on this planet but know he will still be there to guide so many as we remember and honour his teachings.

I wish to send my families prayers of courage and strength to Alden's family.
We first met Alden when he came into our community as a counselor at the Round Lake Treatment center. He rented a small band house next to ours, and I don't know how they all fit in there.
After Alden moved on from here, we heard from time to time the great spiritual work he continued to do in his lifetime.
Remembered with respect and honor from the families of 'Cowtown".
In Friendship,

I am so grateful that I got to know Alden and his family and attend his sweat lodge ceremonies in Prince George BC. They were powerful and profound and wonderful. I will never forget his words when I came to a ceremony he was leading in such a hurry that I was in an accident. When I explained that I was late because I was going too fast to make it on time Alden said, "There is always enough time." May I love by his words. Antonia Mills
