Obituary of Colleen Davies

DAVIES: Colleen was born and raised in Elkhorn, Manitoba, the third daughter of Jo and Bill Saville. After high school graduation, Colleen married Blaine Fowler and moved to Dauphin. She was widowed in September of 1976, and welcomed her twin daughters in February of 1977. Colleen was dedicated to raising her daughters, and after a few years moved to Brandon to be closer to her family where she resided for the rest of her life. Colleen was very dedicated to her family. When her mom became afflicted with HD, Colleen became her main care giver. Over the years she opened her home to many family members. Children were Colleen's passion. When her own children were in school full time she went to ACC and received her Early Childhood Educator II Diploma. She worked in various child care centres and had a day home for a number of years where parents always knew their children were left in a loving warm environment. Colleen was instrumental in starting the Brandon Chapter of the Huntington's Society. The chapter is still active and productive today. Colleen is survived by her two daughters Dawn and Nichole (Matt), her granddaughters Aislinn, Sophia and Makenzie, as well as her siblings Lynn, Alex, Billy, Sandy and her numerous nieces and nephews. Colleen was predeceased by her mom, dad and sister Jo-Ann. A very heartfelt thank you to all the staff at Hillcrest Place for allowing Colleen to retain her dignity and for accepting her unconditionally. Their support was a source of comfort to Colleen as well as her family. A celebration of Colleen's life will be held at the Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332-8th Street, on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Chris Arthur officiating. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in Colleen's memory may be made to Huntington's Society of Canada, 151 Frederick Street, Suite 400, Kitchener, Ontario, N2H 2M2.
