Obituary of Stan Tarnowski
TARNOWSKI: The family of Stanley Tarnowski (Stan) sadly announces his passing at Valleyview Personal Care Home, at the age of 93, on Wednesday, October 1, 2014. Stan was born on August 8, 1921 in Brandon, MB to Frank and Katherine Tarnowski. He received his education in Brandon, MB at David Livingston School, Earl Oxford, and Brandon Collegiate. Stan was employed at Western Grocers for nine years and Canadian National Railways as a Locomotive Engineer for 35 years. He retired in August 1986. Stan was a loving husband and father who enjoyed family gatherings with good food and lots of laughs. He always enjoyed a good joke. He was known for the laughter he shared and brought to others and his generous and giving nature. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and playing cards with their many close friends. He will be missed dearly by those whose lives he touched. Stan is survived by his wife of 64 years, Frances Tarnowski (BeIlas), daughters Charlene Mutchler (Ken), Leanna Fardoe (Kelly), Tess Lelond (Darren), Corinne Kirkwood (Neil), and grandchildren Caelin and Josh Mutchler, Tanner Fardoe, and Mitchell Lelond, sister Millie Jarvin (Walter) and brother William Tarnowski (Joyce), sister-in-law Jean Tarnowski and many nieces and nephews. Stan was predeceased by his parents Frank and Katherine, sisters Josephine, Jennie, and Olga, and brothers Joe, Mike and Andy. Stan was a parishioner of St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church and an active member of the Canadian Ukrainian Men's Club. Prayers will take place at the Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332-8th Street on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 927 Assiniboine Avenue, on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Michael Tkachuk as Celebrant, assisted by Cantor Stella Fedeniuk. Donations in memory of Stan may be made to a charity of your choice.
