Obituary of Cherri Maria Lamont

LAMONT: Cherri Maria Lamont (Cliffe) of Brandon, Manitoba, passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on October 22, 2014 at the age of 49 years. Cherri was born, June 4, 1965 in Brandon. She attended school in Brandon at King George, till they moved to Ste Rose, when she was 11 years old. She attended school in Ste Rose for one year before moving to Dauphin. In Dauphin, she attended Barker, MacKenzie and DRCSS. Over the years she spent in Dauphin, Cherri made a lot of life-time friends that are still very much an important part of her life. While Cherri lived in Dauphin, she was employed at Stickie's Restaurant. Cherri then moved back to Brandon in 1984, where she found employment at San Francisco Gifts, Hair Today, Vinnie's Salon, Chatter's Salon and A&W. She was also employed at Brandon University, Sweet Temptations and her last place of employment was Tender Cuts Meat. Over the years that she was employed, she made a lot of friends that have been there to the very end. Cherri had also moved back to Brandon to look after her Grandmother, who she lived with. She looked after her grandmother both at home and in the Assiniboine Centre until she passed away. Cherri made daily trips to the Assiniboine, making sure she was comfortable in her last days. In 1989, Cherri met Ron Lamont and they started dating and then living together. In 1992, they were blessed with their first child, Dallas. Cherri and Ron were married on Dallas's first birthday. They were then blessed with their second son, Dustyn in 1996. As the boys grew up and were involved in sports, it was a family affair. Both Cherri and Ron were coaches with the boys as they played baseball. Then when the boys got involved in football, Cherri was an important part of the fund raising, looking after the canteens, organizing other fund raisers, like socials and such. This all helping the boys and their friends develop in the sport they loved. She assisted in the WMYF being able to send teams to Thunder Bay and teams playing in the Winnipeg League. When the boys moved up to High School Football, so did Cherri. She helped run the canteen at both Crocus Plains, where Dallas attended, and Neelin, where Dustyn attended. She followed the boys to games all over, supporting them and their many team-mates. Many of them referred to her as "Mom" or "Momma Bear." She was very protective of her cubs, and as such, she gained the respect of many, old and young ones, that have been friends for years. She was a great part of the WMYF, Crocus Plains and Neelin Football families. Cherri is survived by her husband Ron, her two sons Dallas and Dustyn, and grandson Malakai. She is also survived by her sister Canda Chafe, her husband Geoff and their two children Mitchell and Brookelyn. She has one surviving Uncle, George Peary and his wife Sylvia and one surviving Aunt, Joyce Brown and many cousins.
