Obituary of Elsie Mandie Bueckert

BUECKERT: Elsie Mandie Bueckert of Alexander, MB, passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, at the Assiniboine Centre on Sunday, December 28, 2014 at the age of 70 years. She courageously battled cancer for 11 months. Elsie was born in Dundurn, Saskatchewan on June 17, 1944 to Edmund and Hilda Tom, the second eldest of 12 children. In 1962, Elsie married Allen Bueckert and they had three children, Kerry, Brenda and Randy. They farmed near McCreary, Manitoba for years, retiring from farming and moving to Alexander, Manitoba in 1989. Allen passed away in 1994 and Elsie stayed on the acreage until 2014 when she became ill. Elsie was an avid gardener, she certainly had a green thumb. There was always a large vegetable garden that was put in and canned or frozen every year, along with the numerous fruit trees. Elsie's real passion was for her flower gardens, the stargazer lily was always present. Animals held a soft spot in Elsie's heart. She had a horse, Dakota and her favourite dog, Sadie. Elsie will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her son Kerry (Linda Stevens), daughter Brenda, son Randy (Heather Sharpe), grandchildren Beverly and Christopher and her siblings in Manitoba and Saskatchewan. The family would like to thank the staff in Palliative Care at the Assiniboine Centre for the gracious and supportive care that was given to both Elsie and her family. Elsie was laid to rest on January 2, 2015 at Rosewood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The Women's Resource Centre, 731 Princess Avenue, Brandon, MB, R7A 0P4.
