The next year, the family moved to begin farming near Hubbard, SK. She received her elementary schooling at the nearby one room school. Grace was able to receive a high school education by leaving home and moving to Regina, SK. Here, she had to work for her room and board to support herself. Following school, Grace returned to Hubbard where she married Steve Navid on May 28th, 1939. Grace and Steve moved to Carrot River, SK. where they farmed and had a family; sons Rudy and Harold and daughters Joyce and Karen. The family relocated to Rounthwaite, MB in 1957, farming for another 11 years before retiring to Brandon. In retirement, Grace and Steve enjoyed 8 years wintering in Texas with many of their friends from the Brandon area. Following Steve's passing on August 26th, 1986, Grace maintained an independent lifestyle facing life's challenges with strength and resiliency. She enjoyed coffeeing with friends, playing bingo, going on the occasional casino trip, puzzles and reading. Grace's greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren.
