Obituary of Judy Ann Collyer

COLLYER: Judy Ann Collyer (née McNeill) passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born May 30, 1951 in Brandon, Manitoba. After relocating to several places in early childhood, Judy's family moved to Brandon for her high school years. It was during her years at Vincent Massey that she established many lifelong friendships. After high school, Judy went to school during the day, worked in the evenings, and raised her two young sons. She became a Certified General Accountant in 1984, and received her Fellowship in 1999. She had a successful career as an accountant and partner with D.A. Sullivan and Associates, Evancic Perrault Robertson and Duncan Sabine Collyer for over 25 years until her retirement in 2012. Judy served on multiple boards of directors including the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation, and served as president of Westoba Credit Union. She was also a board member on Wheat Belt Community Futures, Chairperson and first woman appointed to the Brandon Economic Development Board. She was awarded the YWCA Woman of Distinction award in 1998, and was also awarded the 2010 Business Builder of the Year Award from the Brandon Chamber of Commerce. Judy's great interests in life were golfing, sailing, spending time with her girlfriends, and reading endless books. However, her greatest love of all was her two sons and her grandchildren. Nana never missed a hockey or volleyball game. Some of Judy's happiest times were spent with her siblings, nieces, and nephews, friends, children and grandchildren. She was hardworking, fiercely independent, ambitious, optimistic, and compassionate. She was a true role model for all women. Left to mourn her loss are her children Mike (Julie) and Jeremy (Tracey); grandchildren Kaylynn, Drayson, Mitchell and Max; sisters Jan and Jeri (Don); brother Dan (Shelly), and their children Hilary (Ji), Josh, Nathan (Kate), Claire, Megan, Sean and Lyndsay. A Celebration of Judy's Life will be held at the Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332-8th Street, Brandon, on Saturday, February 28, at 2:30 p.m. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in memory of Judy can be made to the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation, 150 McTavish Avenue East, Brandon, MB, R7A 2B3.
