Obituary of Bradley Dean Harris

HARRIS: It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden and tragic passing of our beloved son, brother and uncle, Bradley Dean Harris. Brad passed away on Monday, March 16, 2015 at the age of 51 years old. He is survived by his mother Georgina Harris, his siblings Jim, Linda, Ann Marie, Brenda (Marcel), Kathleen (Joe), Richard, Gregory, Vincent, nieces and nephews Jesse, Dustin, Corey, Jennifer, Michael, Rikki Lee, Tashina, Cerina, Reed, brother-in-law Billy Joe Green and extended family. He was predeceased by his father Charles "Buster" Harris who passed in March 1977. Brad's outgoing personality and easy going nature made it easy for him to become friends with almost everyone he met. Brad lived and worked in Calgary for many years as a roofer, following in his father's footsteps. After Brad became ill with diabetes and was unable to roof, he found a new path in life. He had always liked to draw and this passion had become therapeutic for him. It helped him to cope with the debilitating illness that had hit him hard and fast. He lost his leg to diabetes in October 2013. This was very hard for him to deal with but being a person who was always positive, never down and had a good outlook on life he overcame this hardship. Brad was very active and always kept himself busy with his many art projects. He was very artistically talented and gifted, mastering many mediums of art from painting, carving, making star blankets and jewelry. Brad erected a tipi in Grand Valley where he liked to work on his many projects. At the first signs of spring, Brad would spend his days at the tipi where he was most at peace and where his creative ideas would become a reality. A memorial service will be held at the Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332-8th Street, on Monday, March 23, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow.
