Obituary of Margaret Anne Yeomans

YEOMANS: Margaret Anne. Peacefully at the age of 80, on Wednesday, June 17, 2015, surrounded by the love of her family, Mum was called home by her Lord. Reunited with her loving husband Fred, family members and friends gone before her. Cherished and devoted mother to Mary Lee (Dave), Mark (Bonnie), and Janet. Lovingly remembered by eight grandchildren, Marley (Ian), Matthew, Stacy (Steve), Kaitlyn (Geoff), Bo, Erin (Shaun), Catherine (James), Nicholas. Dear sister of Helen (Ron Enns), Bill (Darlene Izzard) and devoted sister-in-law, Margaret Izzard. Mum also leaves a large group of nieces and nephews, who will miss her greatly. Mum was born in Terrance, MB to William and Viola Izzard on February 7, 1935, followed by Velma, Frances (Frank), William (Bill) and Helen. To this day they remain a close knit family. She lived and was educated primarily in Manitoba. Following a year's teaching assignment, Mum married Fred Yeomans, July 10, 1954. Soon we "three" came along and Mum had her hands full raising children plus helping Dad run the farm. Retirement came 17 years ago with a move to Alexander. Mum was an active member of her community. Her strong faith led her to over 40 years of service as a member of the Alexander Church Board. Along with the board, she was an active member with the UCW, Eastern Star, and the Limoselles. Following Dad's death in 2000, to fill her time, Mum traveled and decided to attend Brandon University. As well, in 2003, she successfully campaigned and was elected as the first female representative to the Alexander Village Committee, which she only stepped down from eight months ago. Mum was most proud of her work with the Beautification Committee, establishing seating areas, flowers and greenery for all to enjoy in Alexander. Mary Lee, Mark and Janet have been truly inspired by her accomplishments as she dedicated her life to her family and her community. Mum left a legacy of unconditional love, indissoluble family bonds, incredible strength of character, friendship, razor-sharp intelligence, generosity and kindness, for which she will always be remembered and honoured. Special thanks to Dr. Sandra White, Dr. Joanne Maier, Dr. Moller (Cancer Care), the staff of BRHC and the Assiniboine Palliative Care ward for their loving care of Mum. A Celebration of Mum's Life was held at Trinity United Church in Brandon on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Wayne Sanderson officiating. Donations in memory of Mum, may be made to Alexander United Church, General Delivery, Alexander, MB, ROK OAO, or the Alexander Beautification Committee, c/o the Municipality of Whitehead, Box 107, Alexander, MB, ROK OAO.
