Hans Netz

Obituary of Hans Jurgen Netz

NETZ: With his loved ones by his side, Hans Jurgen Netz passed away peacefully after an 18 month battle with cancer, on July 15, 2015, at the young age of 54 years. Hans will lovingly be remembered by his common-law wife Pauline and his children Casandra and Jurgen, whom he adored, his siblings Sylvia, Leonard and Bernard, his ex-wife Violet, numerous nephews and nieces, plus many more family, friends and acquaintances. Hans was born and raised in Germany. He came to Canada and became a permanent resident in the early 1980's. He held many jobs over the years, working his way up to Service Manager at Murray Chrysler, speaking often of how much he loved the people there. Hans would always help and see the good in people. He did not realize the impact and footprint he left on people's lives and hearts. He also enjoyed watching sports, so much so, that he held season tickets to the Wheat Kings, speaking often of his "crew" he sat and cheered with. He traveled throughout Europe and the USA, and his favorite was a trip to Cuba with Pauline. He loved the outdoors - boating, fishing, camping, going to the lake, and watching and listening to the crackle of a fire. He really enjoyed karaoke. His favorite songs were Neil Diamond's "Sweet Caroline", Willy Nelson's "Seven Spanish Angels" and George Straight's "Amarillo By Morning". He played host and organizer to poker nights at the Crystal and was known for his "pocket fours", which were known as "the Crystal Nuts". His work at the Crystal brought many people together and helped form a whole community. His work in the poker world introduced many people to the game and many people to each other. The friendships he helped create will last many of us our lifetime and we will be forever grateful. He truly embraced the Canadian life with his love of BBQ's hockey, poker and good times with good friends. His death will leave a void, but his life made the world a better place and his memory will live on through all of us. A Memorial Service was held at the Brockie Donovan Chapel on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. Funeral Celebrant, Kim Lewarne officiated. The family would like to thank the CancerCare staff for their wonderful care of Hans. Also, thank you to Laurie, Cindy and Yulia at BRHC Ultrasound.
