Obituary of Howard Burton

Howard Osborne Burton, or as his friends knew him, "Ozzy" passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2015. Howard was born September 30, 1965 in Brandon, MB to Beverly and Margrette "Sally" Burton. Throughout his younger years, Howard loved playing hockey at the Central Community Centre where he was the number one goalie in his league. Later on he enjoyed attending Wheat King games and playing golf at the various courses around Westman. Howard was also a local business owner. He started off by working for his dad at Overland Construction and later worked with BFI and Canadian Waste until he and his brother Grant started Overland Waste & Recycling. Together, they also owned the Double Decker Tavern from 1994-2004. Howard was a kind man who would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He was a very deep thinker and was definitely a momma's boy! Those who knew him remember him fondly and with love. Howard is survived by his wife Lisa and two children Brianna and Kyle, grandson Jase, brother Grant (Brenda) and sisters Sandra (Don), Sharon (Dwaine), and Linda and all of his nieces, nephews and extended family. He is predeceased by his father Beverly and mother "Sally." A come and go tea for family and friends will be held in celebration of his life at Prairie Oasis, 241 8th Street, Brandon, from 2-4 p.m. on Wednesday, September 23, 2015. A private interment will follow. Donations in memory of Ozzy may be made to the Brandon Humane Society, 2200 17th Street East, Brandon, MB, R7A 7M6, or to a charity of choice.
