Obituary of Lindsay James Aplin

APLIN: Lindsay James. It's with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Lindsay at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg on Thursday, January 21st, 2016. Lindsay was born March 11, 1965 in Flin Flon, MB, the second child and only son of Al and Ruth Aplin. The family moved to Brandon when Lindsay was only a toddler. He attended Valleyview Centennial School and Vincent Massey High School. Lindsay worked many different jobs over the years that were in the construction industry as he was a jack-of-all-trades and his many skills included carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and concrete work. Lindsay was able to use these skills to build two beautiful homes for his family – one on Creighton Boulevard and the other on Wolfdale Road near Carberry. He was very proud of his son Tanner this past summer when Tanner showed interest in learning some carpentry skills from him. Over the years, he was employed at Bay Builders, Sunrise Construction, Wolfdale Enterprises, Boersma Plumbing in Neepawa, and lastly in Trades with Government Services. He was an avid outdoorsman, and loved fishing and hunting, especially at Gunn Creek Ranch. One of his favorite memories was going fishing with his daughter, Sara. Another passion he shared with Tanner and Sara was his '73 Barracuda. Lindsay will be sadly missed by his kids, Tanner and Sara Aplin; his sister, Val Smith and husband Brad, children Jessica and Michael; sister, Cheryl Kukurudz and husband Grant, children Mackenzie and Stella. He will also be missed by his aunt and uncle, Peggy and Glenn Chapman; step-mom Gerrie Aplin and numerous family and friends across the country. A Celebration of Lindsay's Life will be held at St. George's Anglican Church, 5th Street & Southern Avenue, on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. with Fr. Chad McCharles officiating. All in attendance are to be considered Honorary Pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Liver Foundation, 375 York Avenue, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 3J3 or to the Manitoba Wildlife Federation, 70 Stevenson Road, Winnipeg, MB, R3H 0W7.
