Obituary of Meredith Stewart Huston

HUSTON: Meredith Stewart Huston, born March 16, 1919, passed away peacefully at Rideau Park Personal Care Home on February 5, 2016. Meredith was born in Rossburn, MB. He was married to his wife, Sylvia, on August 23rd, 1941 in Halifax, NS. He is survived by his wife of 74 years, sons John (Florette) of Brandon, MB, Grant (Cathy) of Calgary, AB, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, as well as 4 step-grandchildren. He always put family and faith before himself. After his military career in the Navy, serving on the HMCS Hespler in WWII, he obtained his degree in Agriculture from the University of Manitoba. Meredith retired in 1980 after a long career with Manitoba Pool Elevators. In retirement, Meredith and Sylvia enjoyed travelling to many places around the world, spending time with family and friends. They moved to Brandon in 2009. Meredith was predeceased by brothers Irwin and Harris and sister Alvyra. A Memorial Service will be held at Central United Church, 327 8th Street, on Thursday, February 11, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. He was a wonderful and loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by all. In lieu of flowers, donations in may be made to a Charity of choice
