Obituary of Betty Davis

DAVIS: Betty Janet Davis, Sprucewoods, MB, February 1930-2016. Born in Picton, Ontario, Betty was one of five children born to Hazel and Ralph Insley. Betty resided and was schooled in Picton. She was affiliated with the Salvation Army and played trumpet in the local Salvation Army Band. She met her handsome military husband, Alfred, in her home town and with him, began the next adventure of her life; which included the births of 11 children: Ron (Lana), Jim (Shirley), Don (Debbie), Cheryl, Cliff (Wilma), Vic (Jo-Ann), Ernie and Patricia. The family has since grown to include many and much loved grandchildren (24) and great-grandchildren (18), and a multitude of well-loved nieces and nephews. She was an excellent cook and family enjoyed spending time around her table. In her early life, she loved bowling in a league and had a great many friends there. Her hobbies were knitting, slippers being the favourite of all the kids and grandkids, and puttering in the yard and garden. She had many wild birds at her feeders and was especially fond on the wild canaries and hummingbirds that came into the yard. Mom was predeceased by husband Alfred, son Alfred Jr. and daughter Nancy. We invite people to come and Celebrate her Life with the family at the Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332-8th Street, on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Interment of Alfred, Nancy and Betty will follow at Rosewood Memorial Gardens. Tea, coffee and dainties will follow at the Davis House, 3 Hoops Loop, Sprucewoods.
