Obituary of Annie Jane Nevin

NEVIN: Annie Jane Nevin (nee Dunlop). Anne Nevin passed away on February 10, 2016 at the age of 93, at the Dinsdale Personal Care Home, leaving her family with many fond memories. Anne was born on May 17, 1922, in Dunrea, MB to Robert William Dunlop and Mary Jane McKenzie Dunlop. She attended school in Dunrea, completed her grade 12 in Brandon, and graduated from Brandon Normal School with the "Class of 41." Anne made many lifelong friends during her year in Normal School and looked forward to reconnecting with those friends at the reunions, which were held for the next 65 years. While teaching at Norman School, Anne met Dan at a local dance. They were married in Dunrea in 1945 and Anne soon became a busy farm wife, spending her days gardening, canning, baking, delivering hot meals to the men in the fields, and raising four children. She was also involved in helping at Moore Park and Justice community and church events. She was a good wife, mother, and friend. Anne and Dan retired to Brandon when Dan's health began to fail. In the years to follow, Anne enjoyed playing the piano, knitting and crocheting, playing cards, reading, keeping up to date on the latest happenings in the royal family, and visiting with her sisters by phone or when they stopped in town for a visit. Most of all, she enjoyed the visits from her grandchildren. Following Dan's passing, Anne moved to Riverheights Terrace where she met more new friends. Anne spent her final 3 years at Dinsdale Personal Care Home. Anne was predeceased by her husband, Dan and her daughter, Danna, as well as her brothers Tom, Bob (Rita), Jim (Edna), Jack (Verlie), and her sister Janie (Ken Bridgeman). She was also predeceased by her brother-in-law Bill (Alphield) Nevin, and sister-in-law Jean Boles. Anne will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her sons Dennis (Hazel), and Barry (Shirley) and her daughter Janis (Lyle Paziuk), as well as her sister Agnes MacAulay, sister-in-law Bessie Charles and brother-in-law Al Boles. Also left to cherish her memory are her grandchildren: Kristy (Kevin Seev), Paul (Dana) Paziuk, Tasha Nevin and Tyler Nevin, two great grandsons, and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of Anne's life will be held at the Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332-8th Street, on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. The eulogy will be delivered by Anne's nephew, Dwight MacAulay. The family would like to extend appreciation to Dr. Maier as well as the staff at Dinsdale Personal Care Home for their kindness and compassionate care.
