Obituary of Audrey Timmons

TIMMONS: It is with deepest sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Audrey Timmons, with the three of us at her side on April 15, 2016 in Edmonton, Alberta. Mom's 81 years were filled with wonderful experiences and memories. Born in the small town of Lampman, SK, on November 29, 1934, mom grew up in a family with four sisters and three brothers. She often spoke of how much she enjoyed her childhood, and of the close relationships that she developed with her siblings. Whether mischievously locking her brother in the outhouse, or playing baseball as the only girl on the boys' team, mom's stories of Lampman were always happy ones. After graduation from high school, mom moved to Regina, SK. There she embarked on what would become a 40-year career with the telephone system, from which she carried many fond memories and formed lasting friendships. It was also during this time that she met the man with whom she would remain deeply in love for the rest of her life. Mom married our dad, Keith Timmons, on October 1, 1955. Together, mom and dad shared a lifetime of happiness. They moved their family many times in their early years, settling us – Kimberlee, Dean, and Mark – in Minnedosa in 1967. Finally in 1979, they made Brandon their home. Mom always remarked about the fun they had and the great friendships they established while living in both communities. Golfing and playing bridge were some of her favourite activities, and she truly valued time spent with good friends. In her later years, mom took pride in her home and garden, was an avid reader, and enjoyed dedicating her time to organizing MTS luncheons and volunteering for the Manitoba Lung Association. Mom and dad thoroughly enjoyed camping, and as an extended family, with our grandma and grandpa, aunts, uncles, cousins, and later on with our own children, we spent many summers making lasting memories together. Travelling remained an important part of mom and dad's lives; vacations to Mexico, Yukon and P.E.I. were highlights for them. Though dad's passing in 2010 ended their time together, mom cherished him more than ever until her own final day. Her devotion to him was unending. She was a sweet, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her care and generosity toward others and especially her grandchildren will remain one of our dearest memories. Mom, we hope you know that the love you have shown us will never be forgotten, and that you will always be loved and remembered. Mom is survived by her three children, Kim (Gary), Dean (Janice), and Mark (Sharon); her grandchildren, Chris, Karlee, Jenn, Derrick, Deanna, Daniel, Breanne, Heather, and Logan; nine great-grandchildren; sisters Edith (Gene), Joan (Terry), Jean (Guy), and Sheila (Harry); brother Ray (Margaret); brother-in-law Russ (Martha); sister-in-law Peggy (Vern); and many nieces and nephews. Mom is predeceased by her husband Keith; parents, Ernie and Gladys Klatt; mother-in-law Helen; father-in-law Thomas; brothers Don and Glen; brothers-in-law Henry and Grant; and sisters-in-law Jackie and Connie. We are forever grateful to all family, friends, and hospital staff who provided care and comfort to mom, bringing peace and compassion to her final days. Your kindness will always be remembered. A Memorial Service for mom will be held at the Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332-8th Street, Brandon, on Thursday, April 28th at 11:00 a.m. She will be laid to rest beside dad in Carnduff, SK during a private family service at a later date. Donations in mom's memory may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association, Box 20029, Brandon, MB, R7A 6Y8.
