Obituary of Mona Adeline Green

GREEN: Mona Adeline Green of Brandon, Manitoba. Born June 3rd, 1928 on the home farm at Douglas, Manitoba to Ernest and Mayme Mitchell, died June 1st, 2016 in Brandon, Manitoba. Mona grew up on the family farm in Elton Municipality, attended Elton School and graduated high school from St. Michael's Academy in Brandon. After completing business college, she worked for several years in Brandon and Regina in the oil industry, insurance business and at Weather Modifications Service. She met and subsequently married the love of her life, Russell Green, at St. Paul's United Church (now Central United Church) on October 30th, 1954. With much laughter and love, they grew their family and farm and passed their love of the land and passion for farming onto each of their four children. Mona's greatest pleasure was to be surrounded by her family at home on the farm, where many wonderful family gatherings occurred. Mona was predeceased by her father Ernest, mother Mayme and brother Donn Mitchell. She is survived by her loving husband of more than 61 years, Russell Green and her children: Jim (Lori Dangerfield), Patti (Alvin Kowalick), Doug (Michelle Green) and Donald (Jill Ramson). Devoted grandchildren are Aran Dangerfield (James Denis) and Mitchell Green, Holly, Danny (Deedra Deremiens) and Kelli Beddome (David Thomson), Nicole and Carson Green and Alex Green; along with two great-grandchildren, Finleigh and Holden Denis. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Francis Martin and Sylvia Mitchell. Honorary Pallbearers are Keith and Shirley Campbell, Ross and Judy Campbell, Iowna Fraser, Archie McPhail, Ross and Mabel Mitchell and Ron and Amy Voy. The family extends its gratitude to the many kind friends, neighbours and the caregivers at the Brandon Regional Health Centre for their assistance, care and compassion during this difficult time. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, June 6, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Central United Church, 327-8th Street, with Reverend Barbara Jardine officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Mona to the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation, 150 McTavish Avenue East, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 2B3.
